Approach

Cargo Velocity is a planning and analysis firm. We prepare reports, studies, and analysis to support strategic planning for our customers' projects that includes all stages of development.

Our approach to site and technology planning is highly interactive and iterative. Our first step is to listen. Then we study the project requirements and document them for customer review. We proceed to work closely and continuously as a team to explore a range of alternatives that foster open discussion and informed decision-making. The flow chart below describes our general process for data gathering, coordination, development of alternatives, and work towards a collaborative decision on a preferred concept. We apply this same approach to both site planning and technology planning projects.

Using this approach, Cargo Velocity explores the drivers and objectives and then develops alternatives to meet requirements. Alternatives may include multiple levels of initial spending that result in varying production rates and operating costs. Options are scored by the team and a preferred option is selected for refinement. The end result is a polished plan that best matches needs. Analysis studies contribute to the planning, and these may include: traffic flow, safety, operating and capital costs, environmental impacts, capacity and efficiency, site use flexibility and project phasing.
